- Minimum Stay Requirement – Due to the high cost of housekeeping for an entire 3-bedroom townhouse, minimum stay is 3 nights single occupancy or 2 nights any other occupancy.
- Payment - A deposit of 50% of the charge including taxes is collected on booking via VISA, Mastercard, American Express, or Interac when billing is over $400. The remaining 50% is collected 30 days prior to arrival as a charge to the same credit card unless you provide us with a different credit card. In situations where the billing is under $400, we collect payment in full at the time of booking.
- Stays over 30 days - Long term stays are accepted however please note that a stay of 30 days or more is governed by the BC Tenancy Act and you are considered a tenant and hence neither GST nor PST is charged in respect of “rent”. A simple rental agreement between the “landlord” and “tenant” is required and postdated monthly rent cheques are taken usually dated the 1st of the month prior to occupancy and these should be received by the “landlord” 14 days prior to occupancy. The first months rent and/or deposit would be either a money order or a certified cheque. All long-term stays are inclusive of weekly housekeeping at no additional charge.
- Maximum occupancy 4 to 6 guests depending on group configuration.
- Complimentary Wi-Fi (possible excessive usage charge in limited situations)
- Complimentary full Kitchen Facilities and also a Washer and Dryer for your convenience. Save yourself a few bucks here!!
- Pets are permitted and are the responsibility of the Guest. Pets are subject to housekeeper approval.
- Check in is 3 pm or whenever the townhouse is ready or unless otherwise arranged with the Owner.
- Check out is 11 am or unless otherwise arranged with the Owner. If we have a back to back booking, i.e. an incoming guest arriving on the same day as your departure then we ask you to please adhere to the official Check-Out Time.
- Guaranteed Early Check-in or Late Check-out at time of Booking – BC Ferry Corporation sails to Haida Gwaii and typically in high season arrives at 6 am and departs at 10 pm. Consequently, you may wish to have your townhouse available immediately on arrival or simply have a very late checkout. Contact owner as to the cost as we will neither rent out the townhouse the night prior to your arrival nor the night of your departure in order to accommodate you. Of course, on arrival if the townhouse is unoccupied from the prior evening, then you are welcome to a complimentary early check-in!
- Federal Taxes Extra - GST – is the Goods and Services Tax levied by the Government of Canada. Rate levied is 5%
- Provincial Taxes for Accomodation Extra - PST – is the Provincial Sales Tax (PST} levied by the Province of British Columbia (BC) in respect of short term accommodation. Rate levied is 8%. The general PST rate other than accommodation is 7%.
- Our housekeeper is an important part of our Chinook family. Housekeeping is not the greatest job here in Masset and our townhouses have stairs which means in the context of cleaning, she certainly gets her exercise. Anything that you can do to assist just a bit in leaving the property a bit tidier prior to departure would greatly be appreciated by our staff such as
- Washing the kitchen dishes. In limited situations, a $25 cleaning charge may be levied if numerous dishes are left.
- Pet cleanup. We do not charge a pet fee however we reserve the right to charge a pet cleanup fee for excessive housekeeping. Please do cleanup in respect of your pet prior to departure.
- Start a load of laundry prior to your departure as it is the laundry that takes the time when the other housekeeping is complete.
- Any fees in regard to the above are paid directly to the housekeeper.
- Gratuities: We work very hard at making your stay both enjoyable and memorable in this remote location. Our housekeeping staff works very hard with limited upward job mobility and securing and keeping a good housekeeper is a real challenge. Tips left on the kitchen table or bed pillow and/or groceries in the fridge are much appreciated by our staff and are received directly by the housekeeper!
- Reviews and Referrals - The proprietor expects no tip however please feel free to post an online Trip Advisor or Google review as a thank you in the alternative of leaving a note on the kitchen table. A simple referral to others would also greatly be appreciated.
- Of note, our website is being continuous updated. At the present time we no longer offer canoes nor bicycles.
- View our Cancellation Policy.
- Disclaimer: The owner shall not be held liable for damage, injuries, or illness incurred during the Renter’s stay.
- Personal message from Owner - Our property may not be exactly what you are looking for in terms of lodging in which case, we wish you the very best for your travels here on the Islands. I was drawn and continue to be drawn to the Islands (simply, the Islands pull you here ...) and I suspect that your experience will be very much the same as mine. Enjoy! Cheers!
